Guidance on nutrition to support and maintain your pet's overall health and well-being.
Taking care of your pet means you feed them foods that are good for their health. We take pride in educating our clients on the nutritional needs of their loyal companions. With nutritional counselling we can determine if your pet lacks certain nutrients and address any health concerns or allergies they have. Our team will be happy to work with you to create a nutritional plan that suits your pet, so please don’t hesitate to contact us to get started.
Nutritional counselling is a dietary checkup for your pet. Our veterinarians will perform a physical examination, check their weight and examine their diet. To check for other medical conditions we run blood tests to diagnose issues such as diabetes or organ diseases. By the end of the exam we will determine if your pet is eating the right amount of food and if they are growing and developing properly. If anything shows up during the exam we will recommend nutritional counselling.
It can be hard to choose from the wide variety of foods that are available for your pet. When shopping for your pet’s food you should pay close attention to the ingredients. Their foods should have higher amounts of fruits, grains, vegetables and meats. If you need some assistance, ask our veterinarians for their recommendation.
In the early stages of your pet’s life they need extra nutrients for their bodies to develop properly. There are specially marked products for kittens and puppies that cater to the dietary needs of most young pets. Some canine pals may need a more specialized diet and may develop bone problems due to how fast they grow. For this reason we encourage our clients to get a veterinarian’s input on the foods they select for their puppies.
Yes! Senior pets are also at a vulnerable stage of their life and may require a special diet. The nutrients they get from their diet can help lessen the effects of the age-induced illnesses they are likely to develop.
